1. Parental notice was struck down by the
Fla. Supreme Ct. in violation of the Privacy Rights Constitutional Amendment,
which we passed in 1980 which said: "All Natural Persons Have The Right
To Be Free And Left Alone From Government Intrusion Into Their Private Lives."
I also ledpassage of the Declaration of Rights Constitutional Amendment in
1998.
2. I am pro-choice and always have been. Our bodies and minds belong
to ourselves. We make decisions, not the Church and State. As long as we are
consenting adults, it's our business and nobody else's, including the right
to terminate a pregnancy, or to develop any sort of relationship.
3. Those attempting to save the fetus are also aborting the living and
I have been protesting these people all of my life, including Anita Bryant
and Jerry Falwell, etc. They have opposed ERA, which I also support bringing
back and passage in Florida, , the pivotal state on this issue. They used
gay rights used to stop its passage in 1976. Let's resurrect it in 2001-2002.
I helped lead protests against Operation Rescue when they came to Orlando
a few years ago.
4. I support all programs that treat women (and men) with dignity. I
would fund all research programs on crises women (and men) are suffering from
and have often been neglected on.
5. I support equal pay for equal work, and equal opportunity.
6. I support women supporting and loving each other without fear of reprisal
from men, or other women, or any institution, religious or government etc.
The same for men.
7. I support the right of women and men to adopt children, including Lesbians
and Gays. Florida is the only state that doesn't allow this. This too was
part of the anti-gay witchhunt led by Anita Bryant in 1976-77 campaigns.
8. I support the rights of single women and men to have access to all
the rights and freedoms anyone else has and not to be discriminated against
if they are not, or choose not to be in any relationships.
Dignity and respect for women, and for men ,is an educational issue, as well,
that moves beyond roles and rules of behavior that treat women as second-class
and sexual objects. One third of women are subject to sexual assault in this
dehumanizing and antiquated approach to relationships, which must be prosecuted
and women encouraged to come foward in identifying their assailants. They
also need to be supported in leaving these terrible relationships.
I have known women terribly trapped in dreadful and violent relationships,
unable or unwilling to leave and this tyranny must be broken and support given
to those wanting out of this disaster, which has resulted in many deaths and
in many murder/suicides.
Domestic abuse involves 80% of police time, not to mention its impact on children
and society as a whole. Men have to be educated and this also goes for
Parental Education.
I am a feminist, always have been. To break this yoke of tyranny we must not
continue with the same folks in charge, allowing this abuse to continue.
It's 2001 and please USE me to demand all that will make a difference.
Freedom isn't a male vs. female issue, but one we all struggle with on so
many levels all through life. This battle must always be fought by supporting
everyone's right to be their consenting adult selves and meeting our basic
human rights and needs.
Whatever is missing in this formulae, I am willing to support in my race for
Governor and when I am Governor. As you can see I am not a politican, or part
of the establishment, or keeping quiet, all of which is to my favor.
Yours Faithfully,

Dear Ms. Oestreich:
I am unsure what the St. Petersburg article stated about my position regarding
choice. Let me try to explain my position as best as I can. I
consider myself to be pro-choice. Abortions should be safe, early, and
rare. We should promote policies that reduce the number of unwanted
pregnancies. I have cast two votes that one could consider adverse to
this position. I have voted in favor of parental notification, and against
partial birth abortion. In all other cases, I am and have voted pro-choice.
